DPS Principal Assistant, Chief Bryan J. Adams, and the entire SFM family, stand in mourning alongside many emergency responders across the Gulf Coast, and the U.S., following the sudden passing of former SFM Deputy Chief Russell "Rusty" Shoultz. Rusty had been serving as the Fire Chief of the City of Walker in Michigan.
While Shoultz's time with the agency was only for a few years, it was impactful, especially in our emergency response role following disasters.
"Rusty was not only driven and self-motivating, but he had high standards when taking on any task and he expected the same standard of his team," said State Fire Marshal Chief Adams.
"This is an incredible loss, especially for his family, but because he left a significant footprint for us to follow, we know his influence, leadership and service will carry on. May Rusty's legacy keep us always striving to achieve just a little bit more than seems possible each and every day."
Please join us in offering prayers of comfort for all who knew Chief Shoultz.
